An adventure between earth and heaven.

The Cammino di Sant’Antonio, St Anthony’s Way, is a hiking and partly cycling route that spans hundreds of kilometres across Italy, joining the most important places associated with the life of St Anthony. Created in 2010 as a result of an idea on the part of the Conventual Franciscan Friars, the Cammino di Sant’Antonio is a part of the great Franciscan tradition of pilgrimage. The route connects the key sanctuaries dedicated to St Anthony and retraces the steps of a saint who left an indelible mark in Italian history and culture. As you walk along these ancient paths, you can relive history and come into contact with an inestimable cultural and spiritual heritage.

The Way goes through very varied types of terrain; it can be safely negotiated by bicycle as far as Bologna on well signposted roads and trails. After the city and as far as La Verna the route goes into the Apennines, where bicycles can only be used in certain sections owing to the presence of mountain paths and rugged tracks. You are advised, therefore, to look at your map carefully and read the information on each stage in order to plan your cycle touring itinerary as well as possible.
